The Government of Dominica has issued a statement clarifying that it has not received any official communication from the United States regarding a draft list of 43 countries recommended for visa restrictions.

The government further stated that Dominica's ambassador to the United States has been instructed to make inquiries and seek clarification following media reports suggesting that Dominica is on a "Yellow" list, with 60 days to address certain concerns.

On Friday, The New York Times reported that several Eastern Caribbean nations, including Dominica, Antigua and Barbuda, St Kitts and Nevis, and St Lucia, appeared on the "Yellow" list of 22 countries.

These nations are reportedly given 60 days to address perceived deficiencies in their security protocols.

According to the reports, countries could be moved to more restrictive tiers if they fail to address issues such as inadequate passport security, failure to share traveller information with the United States, or the sale of citizenship to individuals from banned countries.

The Dominica Government emphasized that it "values its longstanding and cordial relationship with the United States and is committed to strengthening this partnership."

The Skerrit-led administration also assured that it will remain actively engaged in addressing the matter and will keep the public updated on any new developments.
