The Public Utilities Commission will meet on Monday to discuss Rhode Island Energy's utility rates.

Many customers have reached out to NBC 10 in recent months about their high energy bills.

A rally is expected to happen right before the meeting tonight where the PUC meets on Jefferson Boulevard in Warwick.

On Monday's agenda, a proposal to decrease the Rhode Island Energy "supply" price by about $30 a month for the average customer.

The summer rate proposal would lower bills starting in April if approved.

Rhode Island Energy tells NBC 10 they hope this is an opportunity for customers to learn more about what's driving supply prices.

Lawmakers and community leaders plan to speak at the meeting, frustrated over the energy prices growing.

Monday’s meeting will be held at 6:00 at the PUC building in Warwick.
