In a milestone aimed at empowering Basotho and enhancing their financial convenience, Lesotho Post Bank officially launched its new Visa cards during a celebration held at the Maseru Club.
The newly introduced Visa cards are designed to simplify international financial transactions for Basotho, enabling them to access and use their funds globally without the need for transferring money to other banks offering Visa services. With these cards, customers can make purchases and withdrawals worldwide, ensuring seamless financial accessibility.
Speaking at the event, Acting Managing Director Mahase Mahoana highlighted the significance of this launch, describing the Visa cards as a transformative tool for the bank’s clients. “Our clients no longer need to send money to other banks for Visa services. They can now use their Post Bank Visa Cards for global transactions. This achievement reflects our commitment to responding to our customers’ needs,” Mahoana stated.
He further emphasised the importance of celebrating this achievement, calling it a testament to the bank’s dedication to innovation and service excellence. “This is our biggest achievement as Post Bank. It shows that we listen to our customers’ concerns, and today, we are responding to their needs,” he added.
Mahoana also extended his gratitude to all contributors who played a role in the successful introduction and launch of the Visa cards. “This initiative demonstrates that we are not just a community bank but a global player in the financial sector,” he remarked.
Bokang Mareka, Head of People and Culture at Lesotho Post Bank, echoed these sentiments, describing the launch as a significant milestone in the bank’s growth journey. “This launch underscores our commitment to providing advanced financial services. It not only assists Basotho with loans and investments but also elevates Lesotho’s profile on the global stage,” she said.
Mareka highlighted that the launch of Visa cards demonstrates that Lesotho is embracing advanced banking solutions. “Lesotho is often perceived as lacking in modern financial services, but with this launch, Post Bank is proving otherwise. We are advancing our country to new heights,” she added.
The celebration featured a range of activities, including prize giveaways for customers who made purchases using their Visa cards, horseback riding, and cultural dance performances by the Sotho Kids. Local artists, including Omali Themba, Minister Spokes, Citizen Ls, and Ati Zee, provided entertainment.
One of the prize winners, Molefi Khama, who serves as the Chief Risk Officer at Lesotho Post Bank, expressed his pride in using the bank’s new product. “I am honoured to win this prize of M3,500, but my main goal was to support this remarkable initiative. I encourage every Mosotho to open a Visa account with Post Bank,” he urged.
Another client, Dumisani Dube, also expressed his appreciation for the initiative. “These Visa cards will help us access our money anytime, anywhere in the world. Post Bank is ensuring that Lesotho is represented globally. Thank you, Post Bank,” he stated enthusiastically.
